Welcome to the 2023 Lab Runaround, which takes place on Friday, October 13.
This year marks the 46th Runaround event and our first race on the hill site since 2019. This year’s event will be different from previous versions. The starting line, finish line, and timing are different from previous years. See below for details.
Runaround course:
- This year’s course is designed to avoid most of the active construction zones on the hill site. It begins at Building 50 and ends at Building 90.
- See larger course map here
Lab hill site roads closed from 11 a.m. to approximately 1 p.m.
- Lab roads will be closed to vehicle traffic from 11 a.m. to approximately 1 p.m on Friday, October 13.
- Please note this includes Lab shuttles, which will turn around at B65 and B62/66 during this time.
- Parking lots along the race course will begin to be closed for entry and exit at 10:30 a.m.
- If you plan to be on the hill site on October 13, make note of these closures and plan accordingly.
Starting line (B50):
- 11:00 a.m.: Cyclists, runners, and walkers are encouraged to begin congregating in Lot H1 in front of B50.
- 11:15 a.m.: The Runaround officially begins with opening remarks by Runaround volunteers and Director Witherell.
- 11:30 a.m.: Bike-Around riders will be released to ride the course.
- Runners and walkers will be released after the cyclists
Finish Line (B90):
- The finish line will be on the west side of B90 past where Chamberlain Road connects to the B90 parking lot.
- This is a great spot to cheer on participants as they cross the finish line.
- Water, snacks, and 2023 Runaround t-shirts will be available at the finish line.
- 12:00-12:30 pm.: Runaround pilates class takes place on the B90 breezeway
- 1:00-1:45 p.m.: Join the Runaround Groove Lounge live at B90 or virtually.
Yoga class at 717 Potter St. Atrium:
- 11:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m.: Runaround yoga class
Cheer on the participants:
- Everyone at the Lab is encouraged to cheer on Runaround participants.
- Anywhere along the route is good, but some of the best spots to cheer are outside B76 at the intersection of McMillan and Clauser Roads (at the top of the steep hill) or at the finish line at B90.
How do I get one of those cool Runaround t-shirts?
- Register for the Runaround by Monday, October 9, and participate in person or virtually in a Runaround activity on Friday, October 13.
- You must register to receive a shirt on Runaround day.
